Strictly Genteel was originally composed by Frank Zappa in 1971 for the underground cult classic movie, 200 Motels. It also has appeared on the Frank Zappa albums, Orchestral Favorites, The London Symphony Orchestra, Volume II, Make A Jazz Noise Here, and You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore, Volume 6.
This arrangement fuses many of the best elements from all of the performances listed above, and was done with the permission and approval of Frank Zappa. The original orchestral score was obtained and used to transcribe many of the "killer licks" that Frank Zappa has become famous for, and many of the phrasings and musical indications used in this arrangement were lifted directly from the original score.
