Let's Make The Water Turn Black (Medley)

By Frank Zappa

Arranged For Percussion By Mike Myers

Let's Make The Water Turn Black, Harry, You're a Beast, The Orange County Lumber Truck, and Oh No was a popular live medley which Frank Zappa performed in concert on many occasions and with many incarnations of his band dating all the way back to the late 60's. These tunes kept turning up on live concerts all the way through his last tour in 1988. Let's Make The Water Turn Black,, and Harry, You're a Beast originally appeared on the 1968 album We're Only In It For The Money. The Orange County Lumber Truck, and Oh No originally appeared on the 1970 album, Weasels Ripped My Flesh. Medleys featuring all of these pieces together appeared on You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore, Volume 1 and Make A Jazz Noise Here.

The most descriptive word to describe this collection of tunes is "fun!". There is nothing extremely complicated about this piece. Each of these tunes has a light-hearted, fun quality about it which reminds one of the tongue-in-cheek manner that Frank Zappa approached his life and music. Let's Make The Water Turn Black (Medley) is an enjoyable way to introduce the most skeptical fan to some of the very "normal" music of Frank Zappa.
