Island Magic

Island Magic originally appeared on the 1987 Dave Weckl cassette entitled Contemporary Drummer + One. It was also included on Dave Weckl's DCI video tape: The Next Step as well as the 1990 Dave Weckl solo CD entitled: Masterplan.
Island Magic is an energetic samba in 7/4 which features the great performances of Weckl, Jay Oliver (co-composer) and Chick Corea on the original versions. I felt since first hearing Island Magic that it would work perfectly in the percussion ensemble setting. With the help and cooperation of Jay Oliver I have adapted Island Magic to the university-level percussion ensemble here.
