Selections From: Carmina Burana

By Carl Orff

Arranged For Percussion By Mike Myers

Carmina Burana , a well known piece, was originally scored for choir and orchestra in 1937 by Carl Orff. Mr. Orff is a special person to the world of percussion because of his tremendous contributions to early developmental percussion and music in elementary schools. Thousands of young people have grown up learning his concepts and playing percussion instruments he created and helped design.

In addition to being Carl Orff's best known composition, Carmina Burana is a work which adapts very well to the percussion section. The movements included in this arrangement seem like they were written with the percussion section in mind.

This arrangement was originally done for a graduate level percussion arranging class taught by Dr. Robert Schietroma at The University of North Texas in the Spring of 1984.
